Q. Can my family take advantage of Ameridoc™?
A. Yes. You can add up to 5 family members to your account.
Q. What is telemedicine?
A. The use of information technology including the telephone, the Internet and personal computers, for diagnosing, treating and monitoring patients. Telemedicine is adding a new dimension to modern health care. These advances are not only making care more accessible and convenient, they are also helping to raise the quality and contain the costs of medical care.
Q. Is there a minimum age requirement?
A.
Yes. Excluding dependents, the primary member (account owner) must be 18 years of age or older. A guardian may conduct a consultation on behalf of an underage dependent as long as they are listed on the account.
Q. I have a pre-existing condition. Will I still be accepted by Ameridoc™?
A. Yes. Ameridoc™ accepts all patients regardless of a pre-existing condition! We will never deny quality healthcare to anyone.
Q. How does Ameridoc™ reduce health care costs?
A. Immediate access to medical attention can often resolve problems that, if left untreated, could eventually result in hospitalization. To address this need, Ameridoc™ provides around-the-clock access to a physician without ever having to leave your home or office. No waiting rooms or office visits! And, prescriptions, if needed and appropriate are sent to your local pharmacy or shipped to you the next day.
Q. Can I get a consultation after hours or on weekends/holidays?
A. Yes. Ameridoc’s™ physicians are available 24/7, including weekends and holidays.
Q.Why should I use Ameridoc™ instead of seeing my doctor?
A. Ameridoc™ services aid in avoiding unnecessary trips to the doctor or emergency room. Research has demonstrated that up to 70% of visits to a doctor's office or emergency room are unnecessary, and could be handled by phone or e-mail. Ameridoc™ makes the doctor available to talk to you at any time, saving you valuable time and money without sacrificing the quality of care.
Q. Are there any restrictions on the amount of times I can consult with a doctor?
A. There are no restrictions to how often you can contact our physicians.
Q. Does Ameridoc™ handle emergencies?
A. No. For an emergency, please dial 911.
Q. Can members get prescriptions from a Ameridoc™ physician?
A. Yes. Our physicians are only able to prescribe non-controlled medications with By Appointment Tele-Consult or Priority Tele-Consult services. Prescriptions can be electronically submitted prescriptions to your local pharmacy, or shipped directly to you!
Q. How are prescriptions filled?
A. If the consulting physician determines the treatment plan includes prescription medication, he/she can either send the prescription to your local pharmacy 24/7 (subject to the pharmacy hours of operation), or ship them directly to you with your choice of next day, 2-day or 3-day service via one of our our mail order pharmacy partners. Next day shipments require the Tele-Consult be completed prior 3pm.
Q. Are there any limits on what the consulting physician can prescribe?
A.Our physicians can only prescribe non-controlled medications after a telephone medical consultation (Tele-Consult) and reviewing your medical history and evaluating symptoms, conditions, and allergies. If you wish to have maintenance/long-term medications filled by Ameridoc™, more than once within a four month period, our physicians will need you to fax your most recent medical records or fill out a medical records release form (MRRF).
Q. What are the Ameridoc physicians’ qualifications?
A. Ameridoc™ physicians are U.S.-based, state-licensed, and board-certified. Ameridoc™ utilizes several methods and resources when confirming the certifications of our providers. We hold our providers to the highest standards by putting each prospective provider through a rigorous and comprehensive evaluation process. Our credentialing process includes the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), background checks; research any disciplinary actions through the American Medical Association (AMA) and the Provider’s respective State Board of Medicine.
